New Orleans’ First Nordstrom Rack to Open Oct. 6 at the Outlet Collection at Riverwalk with Grand Opening Party, Prizes

NEW ORLEANS – The Howard Hughes Corporation® (NYSE: HHC) and The Outlet Collection at Riverwalk® announced that Nordstrom Rack, the off-price division of Nordstrom, will open in New Orleans on Thursday, October 6 in the nation’s first outlet center located in a downtown setting.

To mark the occasion, a “Rally at the Rack” grand opening party is slated for Thursday, October 6, at 8:00 a.m. Kicking things off with music, coffee and breakfast treats, customers 18 years and older can enter for a chance to win one of 30 $100 Nordstrom Rack gift cards. One lucky customer will win a $1,000 shopping spree and early access to shop the store. The “Rule the Rack” winner will be drawn and announced at 8:25 a.m. Additionally, the first 1,000 customers who make a purchase at the new Nordstrom Rack will receive a complimentary Nordstrom Rack tote as a gift.

“The Outlet Collection at Riverwalk is thrilled to welcome Nordstrom Rack to New Orleans,” said Frank Quinn, Senior General Manager. “The store will have a very positive impact on the city’s economy. Bringing in a major, national retailer such as Nordstrom Rack helps to further strengthen our position as THE place to shop in New Orleans for locals and visitors alike.”

“The addition of Nordstrom Rack at The Outlet Collection at Riverwalk is another big win for our city,” said New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu. “As the nation’s first downtown outlet center, the Riverwalk has seen tremendous success since it reopened in 2014 and Nordstrom Rack perfectly complements the other retail offerings the Howard Hughes Corporation has secured. Together with the New Orleans Business Alliance, we’ve put a focus on attracting nationally recognized retailers to our city because our residents and visitors deserve the best. It is clear that the world is taking notice of our growth and that our city’s future is bright.”

The addition of Nordstrom Rack, which will anchor the south side of The Outlet Collection at Riverwalk, is a significant win for the New Orleans Business Alliance (NOLABA) and the City of New Orleans, City reps said. The approximately 35,000 sq. ft., two-story store completes the southern end of the center, which reopened in 2014 after an $80 million transformation.

“It is very exciting to be part of bringing one of residents’ most-requested retailers to the city,” said NOLABA Vice President of Retail Attraction, Development and Strategy Brenda Canada. “The Outlet Collection at Riverwalk has been instrumental in the retail renaissance that continues across New Orleans. Every new retailer that opens, in any neighborhood, improves the amenities available to our residents and visitors, increases our tax base and helps us achieve a more stable and sustainable economy. We’re thrilled to welcome Nordstrom Rack to the New Orleans community.”

This is the third Nordstrom Rack in LA, including The Mall of Louisiana in Baton Rouge and the Ambassador Town Center in Lafayette. The new store will be open Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
