NEW ORLEANS – During today’s board meeting, the New Orleans Business Alliance (NOLABA) announced Louis David will take over as the permanent President and CEO of the organization after serving in an interim capacity over the last several months.

In his role as Interim President and CEO, David has overseen a seamless transition period, ensuring the organization continued to execute and deliver impactful programming for the people of New Orleans, including the launch of its third annual Homegrown Holidays local shopping campaign.

David has been with NOLABA for eight years, where he led the organization’s efforts to retain current and recruit new businesses in the technology, manufacturing, trade, and transportation industries. Within the past two years, David led the economic development support of Big Easy Bucha’s acquisition by a major Latin American bev-tech company, played a key role in the launch of Propel Park at NASA’s Michoud Assembly Facility, and helped to create and launch the Xbox Studios Game Camp experience in New Orleans, generating tech jobs for our New Orleans workforce.

“Every day, NOLABA provides value across a wide spectrum of the local business community, from entrepreneurs in the cultural economy to global companies exploring expansion opportunities here in New Orleans,” said NOLABA President and CEO Louis David. “It’s my goal to grow our impact, allowing more New Orleans businesses and residents access to greater economic opportunity through the lens of equity.  I’d like to thank our team, our economic development partners, and our board of directors for their support through the years and especially during my tenure as our interim leader.”

Today’s announcement concludes a months-long national search process conducted by NOLABA and its Search Committee to identify the most qualified candidate from a pool of top economic development leaders from across the country.

“We have observed Louis’ solid leadership as Interim President and CEO of NOLABA as he has continued the work of improving economic growth for the city,” said Gilbert Montaño, NOLABA Board Chair and Chief Administrative Officer, City of New Orleans. “Our board has supported Louis’ efforts to move the organization forward and remain steadfast on the organization’s mission – to improve the equity and prosperity for the New Orleans community. As Louis takes the helm of the organization as the permanent President and CEO, the board is eager to see what he has in store for 2024.”

David will assume the role of permanent President and CEO effective immediately, beginning a new chapter for the organization as it continues to grow, evolve, and build a better economy for all New Orleanians rooted in “Culture. Equity. Prosperity.”
