ABOUT HOMEGROWN HOLIDAYS

The New Orleans Business Alliance (NOLABA) is proud to announce the third annual Homegrown Holidays campaign, a vibrant celebration of local businesses and neighborhoods. Running from Small Business Saturday on November 30 through New Year’s Eve on December 31, this initiative invites residents and visitors to explore, support, and connect with over 1,000 small businesses in seven dynamic neighborhoods: Algiers, Gentilly, Gert Town, Hollygrove, the Lower Ninth Ward, New Orleans East, and Tremé.

"New Orleans’ small businesses offer rich, one-of-a-kind shopping experiences and reflect the character and culture of our city. Homegrown Holidays is our way of encouraging New Orleanians to discover these hidden gems, support our neighborhoods, and contribute to our local economy,” said Louis David, President & CEO of NOLABA. This initiative is more than a holiday campaign—it’s a movement to sustain and empower neighborhoods and ensure that small businesses thrive for years to come.

Homegrown Holidays 2024 offers a variety of ways to celebrate and support New Orleans' local economy. Shoppers can enjoy exclusive discounts, giveaways, and special deals at participating businesses, as well as attend pop-up markets and community events showcasing local artisans, performers, and unique goods. To make it even easier to shop local, an interactive online directory will help residents and visitors find participating stores, restaurants, and services in the seven featured neighborhoods.

By choosing to shop local, individuals reinvest in their communities, support small business owners and entrepreneurs, and help preserve the unique culture of New Orleans for future generations. Each purchase contributes to NOLABA’s broader mission of fostering community-driven economic growth, particularly in neighborhoods that have historically faced underinvestment. Through its Strategic Neighborhood Development initiative, NOLABA continues to support small business growth with direct funding, capacity building, and business development resources.

Homegrown Holidays 2024 is a powerful reminder of the importance of supporting local businesses, especially during the holiday season. Residents and visitors are encouraged to join the movement by exploring participating neighborhoods, sharing their finds and experiences on social media using #HomegrownHolidaysNOLA, and spreading the word about this exciting campaign. Together, we can strengthen neighborhoods, empower local businesses, and ensure New Orleans’ vibrant culture thrives for generations to come.

demic economy, NOLABA encourages shoppers to support them over corporate chains this holiday season by purchasing homegrown and uniquely New Orleans gifts for their loved ones and friends. Together, we can help jumpstart the success of these businesses and the entire city heading into 2025 and beyond.
