Ernst & Young to Add 200 Corporate Jobs in New Orleans

Today, Ernst & Young LLP (EY) along with Gov. John Bel Edwards and Mayor LaToya Cantrell announced the creation of 200 new jobs in the New Orleans Central Business District. The majority of the jobs – 175 – are part of a new National Executive Assistance Team (NEAT) in here, with the remaining 25 jobs dedicated to the firm’s risk services functions.

logoLocated in the Hancock Whitney Center, formerly One Shell Square, EY will expand its office space to 41,000 square feet – occupying an additional floor of the office tower on Poydras Street – to house its NEAT center. The firm renovated its existing office space in the past year in concert with the EY at Work initiative, which focuses on contemporary office design, collaborative workspace, leading technology and new environmental standards to enhance teamwork and productivity.

In addition to the 200 new jobs, EY will retain 180 existing jobs in New Orleans. Louisiana Economic Development estimates the expansion will result in an additional 97 new indirect jobs, for a total of nearly 300 new jobs in the Southeast Region of Louisiana.

“Louisiana is proud to support the expansion of professional offices in our state, particularly jobs that are associated with one of the world’s leading professional services organizations,” said Gov. Edwards. “The New Orleans Central Business District is well-suited to host executive-level offices such as this one, with the full range of amenities, resources and workforce talent required by today’s leading corporations. This expansion is exciting news for Louisiana and demonstrates the corporate office and professional services strength that exists in New Orleans. We look forward to tremendous growth for EY in our state.”

“I’m proud to see a global powerhouse like EY investing in New Orleans this way,” Mayor LaToya Cantrell said. “They are not just standing up a new professional service center, they are standing with the people of New Orleans by creating jobs and deepening their commitment to the city. With this investment, EY is tapping into the skilled workforce and the outstanding quality of life our city offers – and helping to move New Orleans forward.”

Part of the New Orleans business community for nearly a century, EY provides assurance, tax, auditing, advisory, enterprise risk management, and technology and security risk services to public and private companies in the automotive, energy, chemicals, financial, health, real estate, retail, consumer, and entertainment industries in the U.S.

“We are delighted in EY’s continuing commitment to New Orleans. As part of a global professional services organization, EY’s choice of New Orleans is a vote of confidence in the city, specifically, our highly educated workforce and our 10 local universities and colleges,” said Quentin Messer, president & CEO of the New Orleans Business Alliance. “This professional support operation is additional proof that our local economy continues to diversify while building upon the city’s historic strengths. Most importantly, EY’s decision gives residents additional opportunities to build dynamic careers with a leading international organization here at home.”

EY selected New Orleans for its NEAT center, one of five similar centers in the nation, because of the firm’s longstanding market position and brand position in New Orleans, as well as the city’s exceptional pool of qualified and diverse talent, its strong sense of community, and its attractive economic conditions.

“The opening of our NEAT center as well as the renovation of our office space underscores our firm’s commitment to this market and to our people,” said Louisiana Managing Partner Brian Rotolo of Ernst & Young LLP. “These investments will encourage our people to grow as professionals and to produce their best work, with innovation and teaming highlighted throughout. I am proud of the amazing team we’ve assembled here in New Orleans and of the exceptional work we provide to our clients – those in the city and beyond. We are dedicated to advancing the firm’s purpose of building a better working world.”

In the fiscal year ending June 30, 2018, EY posted a 7.3 percent revenue increase across the Americas, a $14 billion market segment within the global $34 billion EY enterprise. In an increasingly mobile business world, the NEAT center will support executives through centrally based and digitally enabled business support services.

“We are pleased to work with EY as they continue to expand in the New Orleans market, providing even more professional opportunities for greater New Orleans residents,” said President and CEO Michael Hecht of Greater New Orleans Inc. “The firm’s growth and commitment to the city is another example of the excellent environment that New Orleans provides for businesses, including its skilled workforce, low operating costs and outstanding quality of life.”
