Highlights of the report include our accomplishments in the following areas:
Building the NOLABA Organization
- Established the new organization
- Recruited and selected the President & CEO
- Hired critical staff, relocated into permanent office space, established policies and procedures
- Developed and executed agreements with the City of New Orleans, Greater New Orleans Inc., the World Trade Center, and the Board of Trade to clarify roles, integrate efforts, and optimize synergies
- Launched the New Orleans Business Alliance newsletter
Strategy, Policy & Research
- Developed New Orleans’ first economic impact model (EIM), a proprietary, state-of-the-art economic impact model to provide fiscal and economic projections of projects considering invest-ment in the City
- Contributed expertise and insight to the City Planning Commission’s Master Plan and CZO process
Business Attraction, Retention, and Expansion
- Provided business attraction services to over 20 new companies that represented a variety of industries in collaboration with public and private economic partners
- Instrumental in securing commitments from three prospective businesses to locate in Orleans Parish
- Launched the New Orleans Digital Entertainment (NODE) initiative to provide services specific to the digital entertainment sector
- Hosted three Chairman’s Breakfast Meetings to address specific opportunities for Orleans Parish businesses, including small business & entrepreneurship, grocery stores, and real estate
- Launched the DeltaPlus initiative, which worked with ninety-one (91) local businesses
Retail Attraction
- Established a retail strategy centered on refining the business case around neighborhood-specific demographics and ensuring quality real estate development to provide turnkey tenant options
- Developed marketing materials to reposition Orleans Parish with local, regional, and national retailers
- Established a pipeline of national retailers and developers to attract to New Orleans
