We’re happy to announce that we have ini­ti­ated a three-month assess­ment of local health­care insti­tu­tions’ pro­cure­ment needs and local small busi­nesses’ capac­ity to ful­fill those needs. This study is the next step in the anchor insti­tu­tion strat­egy iden­ti­fied in Pros­per­i­tyNOLA, the city’s five-year plan for eco­nomic growth. Through a com­pet­i­tive bid process, NOLABA selected the Wash­ing­ton, D.C.-based Democ­racy Col­lab­o­ra­tive and local dis­ad­van­taged busi­ness enter­prise (DBE) part­ner DMM & Asso­ciates to under­take the study.

LCMC Health announced today an invest­ment of $100,000 in the New Orleans Busi­ness Alliance (NOLABA) to sup­port the fur­ther devel­op­ment of the New Orleans Bioin­no­va­tion and Health Ser­vices clus­ter. This marks the first anchor insti­tu­tion invest­ment in devel­op­ment of the bio­med­ical clus­ter. “As New Orleans con­tin­ues to grow and expand eco­nom­i­cally, LCMC Health pledges its sup­port to the city of New Orleans and NOLABA to solid­ify the city and New Orleans as a pow­er­house in health­care and as a national busi­ness leader,” stated Greg Feirn, CEO of LCMC Health.

Notice is hereby given that nom­i­na­tions for the New Orleans Busi­ness Alliance’s Board of Direc­tors are cur­rently being accepted.

All nom­i­na­tions must be sub­mit­ted in writ­ing and deliv­ered to the orga­ni­za­tion at 935 Gravier Street, Suite 2020, New Orleans, LA 70112 via US Mail, emailed to csojourner@nolaba.org or in per­son end­ing Sep­tem­ber 19, 2014 at 5:00pm.

Nom­i­na­tions should include the name, address and phone num­ber of each nom­i­nee, bio and/or resume, along with a com­pleted nom­i­na­tion form. Each nom­i­nee as well as the per­son nom­i­nat­ing him or her must reside in Orleans Parish or have a pri­mary busi­ness address or employer’s busi­ness address in Orleans Parish. Nom­i­nees must be at least 21 years of age.
